Frequently asked questions

How do I reset my passcode?+
For your security, the passcode can't be recovered or bypassed. If you've forgotten it, you'll need to delete and reinstall the app — which also erases local data. To avoid this, enable Face ID / Touch ID as a faster unlock, and keep a recent CSV export or device backup.
Where is my data stored? Is it backed up?+
Everything lives locally on your device. DollarGuard has no server that receives or stores your financial data. If you have iCloud Backup enabled in iOS, your DollarGuard data is included in your normal device backup — controlled entirely by your iOS settings, not by us.
Can I export my transactions?+
Yes. Go to Settings › Export Data to download your full history as a CSV you can open in Excel, Numbers, or Google Sheets. Your data is always yours to take with you.
Does DollarGuard connect to my bank?+
No — and that's on purpose. DollarGuard is a manual tracker for privacy-conscious people. You enter transactions yourself, so your banking credentials never touch the app and never leave your control.
What is PATCH, and is it private?+
PATCH is an optional in-app assistant that answers questions about your money in plain language. It's off by default. When you turn it on and ask a question, that question and the relevant figures are sent to an external AI service (OpenAI) to generate the answer, and you're clearly told this before enabling it. Prefer to share nothing externally? Simply leave PATCH off — every other feature works fully offline.
How do I add a transfer between accounts?+
From the Spending tab, tap [ ⇄ ] to start a transfer. Choose the source and destination accounts, enter the amount (with an exchange rate if the currencies differ), and save. Transfers keep both account balances accurate and stay fully traceable in history.
Can I set up recurring transactions?+
Yes. Go to Settings › Recurring Rules to create entries that repeat daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly — ideal for rent, subscriptions, and paychecks. They generate automatically on schedule, and you can deactivate any rule at any time.
Does it handle multiple currencies?+
Yes. Hold accounts in different currencies and record transfers with exchange rates. DollarGuard never adds different currencies together — totals are grouped and shown per currency, so the numbers always mean something.
Will it stay fast with years of data?+
It's built for exactly that. DollarGuard has been tested against 20+ years and tens of thousands of transactions, with reports and search engineered to stay quick even at that scale.
It's not on the App Store yet — how do I try it?+
DollarGuard is in final testing on TestFlight ahead of its App Store launch. Email support@pleuribus.com to ask about access.
